I am offering my Scrappy Domino's pattern as a free pattern. This is an UNTESTED pattern. I am still in the process of making this quilt from my written pattern. It has been hard to squeeze making this pattern into my busy schedule. I will be focusing more time to Scrappy Domino's in the months of Jan and Feb.
This cute little quilt is the product of ufo blocks. Actually these blocks were tester blocks from different quilt projects. I like to make a block out of scraps before I cut into fabric for a specific quilt. For these 5 blocks, I used leftover backing fabric from a past project Ashley's baby quilt. This little quilt is 43" x 43".
Here is a close up of one of the blocks showing that cute fabric.
I know that I haven't blogged much but I have been busy finishing up 3 quilts for Christmas gifts. The first one was a test pattern that I had done for a magazine. It is called Mocha Joe and the pattern can be found in the December 2016 issue of The Quilt Pattern Magazine. I only have a photo of the finished top not the completed quilt.
The other 2 are horse themed panel quilts. I only have a photo of one of them. This was taken during the sandwiching process.
I have completed the scrappy block that I will be using for my Scrappy Domino's quilt. I still have a bunch more to make. I haven't decided yet what size I will be making. It will depend on how many black and white blocks I can make from just my scraps.
I have started a new scrappy project. It's a simple block that I will be doing. I am hoping to use quite a few scraps up. I will be doing them as leaders and enders. Here are 3 of the blocks that I have completed so far. I plan on using black and white blocks as alternates.
I whipped up a quick pillow for a friends birthday. She is a horse person, so I used some horse fabric to make this pillow. The back of the pillow has matching fabric to the backing of a quilt that I have made for her for Christmas this year. Also 3 of the fabrics in the pillow are in the quilt.
My Playing with Scraps quilt is finally finished. It was a over a year in the making and it came out great. I now need to find a place to put it or a family or friend to give it to. I haven't decided yet.
Update - I am currently writing a pattern for this quilt and an easier modified version. Look for it in 2018
I finished the "Purple Sage" top the other day. It will be going on our Ca king after it has been quilted. I will be sending this one out to the longarm quilter that I use. It is way too big for me to quilt on my little machine.
It is so big that I could get a complete picture of it. There is another diamond border on the bottom.
WOW it has been over a year since I started this scrappy adventure. You can find earlier posts HERE, HERE and HERE. Yesterday I finished the FMQ. That took about a week on my domestic machine. I am hoping to have the binding on by this weekend if all goes as planned.
Hey guys, I thought I show you a great gift for that sports fan in your life. It can be made with team fabric and coordinating colors or just make it with team colors. This is my SF Giants pillow.
It is a 15" block made into an 18" pillow. I still need to get the pillow foam for it. I put it in a 16" pillow form so everyone could see it better. If I get interest on how to make this one, I will write up a free pattern for it.
I finally got around to make the Purple Sage block 10. I think I had this on both my November and December lists. There are 3 more blocks left then the borders to do. I am getting excited to see this quilt put together.
This baby quilt was a quick project. I started out with a remnant piece of fabric. This fabric had 6 almost 12" squares on it. I cut out each square at 11½". I added sashing and borders and voila, quick and cute baby quilt. Check out the remnants bin at the store you never know what you may find.
