Staircase to the Stars

Here is a peek at my next project I have designed with my EQ7. I call it Staircase to the Stars. I plan on using rich burgundy and deep peacock blue with a nice cream background. This quilt will be 76" by 76". Hopefully I will be starting it in September. Right now my machine is tied up with quilting the 4-patch 9-patch quilt. I should have that done by next week.

Here is the EQ7 design picture.

I will also be squeezing in blocks for my personal challenge and a few UFO's. I think this quilt will go together quickly. This one I will be fabric shopping for. I don't think that I have the colors in my stash that I want to use.

WIP- 4-patch 9-patch

The 4-Patch 9-Patch is a work in progress. I have been working on it off and on since the beginning of the year. This is a scrappy quilt. I made the 4-patches from some black and white fabric. I had bought the black for another project but it didn't work out. So I paired it with some white.

These 4-patch blocks are made from 3½" strips (wof) one of each color sewn together. I then cut the strips into 3½" sections which were sewn into 4-patches. I got six 4-patch blocks from each strip. You could also do the 4-patches in black and white scraps.

All the 9-patches are from my scraps. I gathered scrap fabrics and paired them up. This can be random or you can pair them up any way you like.

My 9-patches were done with 2½" strips about 8 inches long. Three strips for each color. After sewing strips together I cut them into 2½" sections and put together my 9-patches. I got 2 blocks from each color combination.

Here is what I have done so far.

This is a great way to use up scraps.

Block 6 -Double Cross

WOW I can't believe it has been a month since I did my last block. I have been busy getting some Christmas gifts done. I have also been working on some shopping bags. Here in California we have to bring our own bags to the store or buy a paper one. Any way here are the blocks. I have also picked out names for the 2 quilts. One will be called Patriotic Sample and the other is going to be Candy Skulls Sampler. Now to the blocks.

My accuracy is getting better.

Midnight Mystery Quilt 2015/2016 - August

The August mystery instructions came out August 6th. We are making Flying geese, the no waste way. This is a new method for me. It was so easy and I loved that there is no waste. The geese look so pretty and perfect.

All the geese are done and bagged up. Waiting for next months instructions. So far this has been a lot of fun seeing everyone's fabric choices and progress. Join the fun.
